Jim Martin: LISTEN!

Internal Descent

-J. Martin-
Pitying myself back to sleep,
Contemplating whether or not
I am the cause of my own misery,
Of my own misery

Questions arise
As guilt begins to cloud
Windows of clarity,
Windows of clarity

So I reflect on false pretenses
And I let go of all my senses
In retrospect there was resistance
From my denials to acceptance

No reasons to defend
Nor to condemn
My internal descent
Into oblivion
No choice but to lament
Until the end
My internal descent
Into oblivion

Regretting the day he passed away
And in mourning wondering what
I could have done before that day arrived,
Before that day arrived

I don't have the answers,
As doors begin to shut
I wish he was still alive,
Wish he was still alive

So I reflect on false pretenses
And I let go of all my senses
In retrospect there was resistance
From my denials to acceptance

2x
No reasons to defend
Nor to condemn
My internal descent
Into oblivion
No choice but to lament
Until the end
My internal descent
Into oblivion.
